How did you get into radio?

I started as an intern at the SABC and was awarded with a freelancer contract to produce the breakfast show of one of the stations in Durban. However, I received my training at Red Cap Radio (Mr Price retail station) from radio gurus David Yapp and Marcel Sapet. They took me on board and equipped me with the skills and knowledge necessary for radio.

What do you love about working with 919?

The family-like environment where everyone is friendly and enjoys some banter on occasion. I enjoy reaching out to the people of the city and making their day brighter in some way.

If we say Joburg, what comes to mind?

Traffic, unfortunately. But also a concrete jungle and a land of opportunities.

Where are you based, and what’s the route you travel to get to the station?

I'm in Midrand and I usually follow the route offered to me by Waze. But on a regular day, I take the M1 South towards Sandton, get off at Corlett Drive right up to Oxford Road and then into Ferguson Road.

What do you get up to when you’re not doing your show / working at 919?

Watching football and other sports, chilling with family and playing all types of games from the PlayStation to board games.

Who are your favourite artists and genres?

I enjoy alternative rock music such as Prime Circle, Linkin Park, Greenday, Blink 182… you get the picture.
